Dec. 19: KLAWS Clubs to Carol for Shelter Pets Awaiting Adoption

Castaic Middle School KLAWS clubs in partnership with West Ranch High School and DFYinSCV will carol to the adoptable pets at the Castaic Animal Care & Control Center on Thursday, December 19, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is designed to help create awareness of their availability for adoption and, of course, to show these ready-to-adopt animals some love.

Smallest district continues to see test score growth

Although they are the smallest district in the Santa Clarita Valley in terms of both total number of students and schools, the Castaic Union School District continued to see growth on their standardized test scores this past year.

Mutual benefit: KLAWS reading program supports students, shelter animals

Despite the fires last week, the winds this week and the potential for power shutoffs stopping classes daily, dozens of Castaic-area students decided to spend their after-school time reading to animals Wednesday.

The event, named the Barking for Books Halloween event hosted by Kids Loving Animals Within Shelters (KLAWS), was attended by approximately 60 students from elementary schools within the Castaic Union School District, Castaic Middle School and West Ranch High School.

‘Barking for Books’ at the Castaic Animal Care Center

Kids Loving Animals Within Shelters, or KLAWS, is hosting a Barking for Books Halloween event at the Castaic Animal Care Center Wednesday.

Started as an after-school club for Castaic Middle School students in 2015, KLAWS has donated hundreds of dollars in blankets, collars, leashes, toys, food and treats to the center.
